I've been looking for a way to change the machine name that Microsoft's RDP Client uses to log on to a terminal server. I need this because I can only access some computers via RDP and then have to support programs that use the computer name to save printer settings, for example. So when I switch on RDP, the session always runs under the name of my computer and so the program behaves completely differently than when someone is sitting directly on the computer. With Microsoft's remote desktop connection, I can't change that, but I've finally found an alternative:

The 2x RDP Client from Parallels has the option to override the client machine name. For this purpose, there is a corresponding field in the 'Advanced Connection Settings' on the 'Advanced Settings' tab of the 'Connection Properties' mask. For RDP sessions, the tool is even free!
